New for Fall: Get Ready for the Holidays With These Plumbing Upgrades

Our showroom experts look at 2017 fall plumbing trends and hot new products as we get ready for the holiday season.

With the holidays just around the corner, you may have houseguests coming over, parties to host and elaborate meals to prepare as we head into Thanksgiving, Halloween and Christmas.

But with all the commotion, there are probably a few things around the house that need sprucing up. We all want to look our best when we open our homes and our hearts to loved ones, and we want our homes to reflect our celebratory mood.

Sometimes we just want to splurge on ourselves a little, and while plumbing fixtures don’t seem like a big luxury, they add simple pleasure to everyday life.

We asked our showroom experts what they’re most excited about in terms of fall plumbing trends and new products to watch for. While you’ll want something you’ll be happy with long term and usually avoid using the word “trend,” we took a look at where the industry is heading and what customers have been raving about.

Here are some fall plumbing trends we’ve been noticing lately.

Matte Black is the New Black

The matte black finish is a big seller across all plumbing fixtures lately, except perhaps toilets.

The classy look of matte black stands out as distinctive while blending with virtually everything.

The quickest and easiest way to add matte black to your home is with a faucet upgrade. More and more manufacturers are

For example, Delta has added the finish to their Trinsic faucet line.

Matte black is entering the accessory world as well. Finally, ICO towel warmers are available in matte black, meaning your bathroom will look cool while your towels stay toasty warm.

The Soak of a Lifetime

It’s no secret that we love freestanding tubs at Robinson Lighting & Bath Centre. They’re the centrepiece of a luxurious ensuite bathroom and one of the best ways to spoil yourself.

Of course, space can be an issue, so there are some slimmer options available for bathrooms where space is a factor.

Kyla Hazen, one of our Winnipeg plumbing experts, points to one in particular:

“I’m loving the Louie, it’s a simple oval shape, very sleek, and it comes in two sizes. Best of all, the price point is excellent.”

Another bathtub development in the pipeline is the ILLUZIO feature from BainUltra in their chromatherapy tubs. Chromatherapy is the use of colour for therapeutic purposes. In the past, BainUltra’s chromatherapy tubs had LED lights mounted on the acrylic shell.

Now with the addition of ILLUZIO technology, the lights are mounted directly into the acrylic wall and shine through the entire tub when lit for a sleeker look. It’s truly a more immersive and harmonizing experience than ever before.

Another popular option in the bathroom is the MAAX Duo Edge tub shield. If you have a bathtub/shower combo, more and more customers are opting for these pivoting shields instead of a full door. Putting a full shower door on a tub can be very uncomfortable for bathers.

A shield allows the user to open the pivot panel so that the space where your head goes in the tub feels more open, and there’s no track or framing that takes up the whole tub ledge which leaves room to rest your arm (or a glass of wine!)
